Convert Instagram to a Business account

Personal IG accounts can't connect to Zymbler. Here's the 2-minute fix.

Personal Instagram accounts can't connect to Zymbler — Meta restricts API access to Business and Creator accounts. The switch is free, takes about 2 minutes, and is fully reversible.

What changes when you switch
You get analytics, the ability to run promotions, and message API access. Your followers, posts, captions, comments, and DMs all stay exactly as they are.

Convert your Instagram account

  1. Open the Instagram app

    On the phone where you log in to the account. Web doesn't have this option in all regions.

  2. Profile → menu (☰) → Settings and privacy

    On iOS, that's the three lines in the top-right. On Android, similar.

  3. Tap 'Account type and tools'

    You may see it phrased as "Account" on older app versions.

  4. Switch to professional account

    Pick Business when prompted (not Creator — Creator accounts have slightly different API access and Zymbler expects Business).

  5. Pick a category

    Anything close to your real business is fine. You can change later.

  6. Connect to a Facebook Page

    This is the critical step. Pick the same Facebook Page you connected to your Meta Business Account. If you don't connect a Page, IG messages won't route to Zymbler.

  7. Add contact info (optional)

    Email, phone, address. Skippable for now.

Verify the switch worked

Back in business.facebook.com → Business Settings → Accounts → Instagram accounts, your IG handle should now appear. If it doesn't, the Page link didn't take — repeat step 6 from the IG app.

What if I want to switch back later?

Same path: Profile → Settings and privacy → Account type and tools → Switch to personal. You can switch as many times as you like. Zymblerjust won't be able to receive messages while you're on a personal account.

Why "Business" not "Creator"?

The Instagram Messaging API is enabled on both, but Business accounts unlock the full set of metadata and analytics endpoints that Zymbleruses for the AI Analysis panel. If you're already on Creator, the integration still works — but the lead scoring may be slightly less rich.
