Verify your business with Meta

What it is, when you need it, and the documents Meta will ask for.

5 min read

Business Verification is Meta's process of confirming your business is a real, registered legal entity. It's separate from Display Name approval and from payment method setup — but it gates everything once you scale.

Start it today, even if you're not ready
The review queue is 3–7 days minimum, sometimes longer. There's no downside to submitting early — you can keep building everything else in parallel.

What it unlocks

Until your business is verified, you're capped at:

  • 2 WABAs per Business Account
  • 250 business-initiated conversations / 24h (messaging tier 1)
  • No access to certain advanced Meta APIs

Once verified:

  • Up to 20 WABAs per Business Account
  • Higher messaging tiers unlock based on volume and quality
  • Access to the full Marketing API surface
  • Required for any meaningful marketing-template volume

How to start verification

  1. Go to business.facebook.com → Settings → Security Center.
  2. Find the Business Verification card → click Start verification.
  3. Confirm the business details on file are accurate.
  4. Upload supporting documents (see below).
  5. Submit.

Documents you'll need

Meta accepts different documents per country. Examples:

  • India— Certificate of Incorporation, GSTIN registration certificate, PAN card of the entity, utility bill or bank statement (address proof, < 3 months old).
  • EU / UK — Companies House registration, VAT certificate, utility bill.
  • US — IRS EIN confirmation, state business registration, utility bill.

Across all regions, two principles:

  • Names must match exactly. The legal entity name on your documents, your Business Account, and any tax IDs must all be identical. "Amraw Labs" vs "Amraw Labs Pvt. Ltd." counts as a mismatch.
  • Addresses must match.Same principle. Use the address that's on your registration certificate, not a convenience address.
Save yourself a re-submission
Before clicking Submit, double-check the legal name and address on your Business Account against the certificate you're uploading. 90% of rejections are name/address mismatches and they cost you another 3–7 days each round.

Tracking the status

Inside the Security Center, the verification card updates with one of four states:

  • Not started— you haven't submitted yet.
  • In review — submitted, waiting on Meta. 3–7 days typically.
  • Verified— done. You'll get an email too.
  • Rejected— Meta's reason is shown inline. Fix the issue and resubmit.

If you're rejected

The most common reasons and fixes:

  • Legal name mismatch. Edit Business Settings → Business info → Legal name to match the document exactly. Re-submit.
  • Address mismatch. Same fix in Business info → Address.
  • Document expired.Re-upload a fresh one (typically < 3 months for utility bills).
  • Document blurry / unreadable. Scan or photograph again. Avoid screenshots of PDFs — use the actual PDF.
  • Unsupported document type.Switch to one of the accepted types for your country (Meta's rejection email lists the accepted set).
